Thanksgiving Week and Weekend

It is the week of Thanksgiving so first make sure to give thanks for what you have and I hope you have a chance to spend some time with family.  Because it is holiday week, I am going to combing the weekday happenings and weekend wandering posts into one and I won’t do a Wednesday Wandering Post.

If you love the holiday season and/or Christmas, the flood gate is opening on events and things to see related to the season.  Go out and explore and let us know what you see.

November 24th (Monday)

Story time at Dayton Visual Arts Center.  10:30 am.  Sing songs, play games, and read books.

Storytime at Vandalia Library.  12:30 pm.  Join in for some stories, crafts, music, fingerplays and a literature based movie.  Ages 3-6.

ABC & Me Story Time at Xenia Library. 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm. Preschoolers will learn about letters and their sounds through stories and a craft. Ages 3-6.

Monday Funday: After School at West Carrollton Library.  3:00 pm.  Watch movies, play games, make crafts and so much more.  Grades K-4 and Tweens.

Tween Book Club at Burkhardt Library.  4:00 pm.  For ages 8-12.  Register in advance.

Book Nuts Book Club at Fairborn Library.  4:00 pm.  Have fun discussing the book of the month and also doing activities and crafts.  Grades 3-5.

Sirens and Lights? What’s Going On? At Trotwood Library.  5:00 pm.  Meet Trotwood first responders, learn about their jobs and talk about career opportunities.

Monday Night Movies at Trotwood Library.  6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Come see a blockbuster movie for free.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.  Grades 7 and up.

Popcorn & Movie! At EC Doren Library.  6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Enjoy a movie and some snacks.  Ages 13-17.

November 27th (Thursday) – Happy Thanksgiving

 

Thanksgiving Buffet at Youngs Dairy.  10:30 am to 6:00 pm.  Enjoy turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy,, stuffing, green beans, corn, sweet potato casserole, cole slaw, salad bar, cranberry salad, rolls, pie and more.  Adults $20.95, Children 4-10 $8.95, Children 3 and under are free.  Call Chris for reservations at 937-324-2050 – reservations are required.

Virginia Kettering’s Holiday Train Display, The Kettering Tower, 40 N. Main St. Suite 1550.  8:30 am to 5:30 pm.  Visitors of all ages can view this one of a kind model train display.

 

National Holiday Gift Show at Hara Arena.  9:00 am to 6:00 pm.  $5 for adults and children 12 and under are free.  Come to one of the largest indoor craft and gift shows in the state.  Bring an unwrapped toy and you’ll get $1 off admission.

Leap Frog Parents Frogs Night Out at Leap Frogs Party & Play Center in Miamisburg.  6:00 to 9:00 pm.  $23 per child includes dinner.  Ages 4-13.  Kids get to enjoy dinner, fun bouncing, climbing, sliding and playing.

 

City of Lebanon Holiday Illumination, downtown Lebanon.  6:30 pm.  This is the annual tree lighting ceremony and also includes free carriage rides in front of City Hall.  Make sure to visit Santa inside the City lobby.

 

November 29th (Saturday)

All day: North pole train rides at Lebanon Rail Road.  Take a half hour train ride to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Tell Santa what you would like and receive a small gift from Santa.  You can also color pictures or write letters to Santa, enjoy a holiday cookie and hot chocolate and be entertained by Santa’s elves.  $20.50 for Adults, $15.50 for children 5-16, $8.50 for children 2-4 and 1 and under are free.  Check the website for times.  Typically the times are 10:00 am, 12:15 pm, 2:30 pm and 4:45 pm.  The website also states which times are already sold out.  Advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended as this event does sell out.  http://lebanonrr.com/northpole.html
