Weekend Wandering – November 15-16

This weekend you can go shopping for the upcoming holidays, learn about the International Space Station, or get out and enjoy nature with one of the Five Rivers MetroParks programs.  Make sure to bundle up. 🙂

Saturday and Sunday

St. Peter Christmas Bazaar at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chamberburg Rd, Huber Heights.  9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Miracle on 34th Street at La Comedia Dinner Theatre, 765 W. Kettering Children’s Theatre Presents Anne of Green Gables at Rosewood Arts Centre, 2655 Olson Drive.  7:00 to 9:00 pm (Sat); 2:00 to 4;00 pm (Sun).  Step back in time and let Anne Shirley be your guide of Prince Edward Island.  $5 for children 12 and under; $7 for adults.

Just Saturday

BCN Holiday Bazaar, 1850 N. Fairfield Drive, Beavercreek.  9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Native Shrub Planting at Germantown MetroPark.  9:00 am to Noon.  Help plant 600 native shrubs to help create a more diverse edge planting.  For all ages. Great way to volunteer and help out in the community

Mapping Forests at Taylorsville MetroPark.  10:00 am to Noon.  Explore how to monitor the ecosystems and map part of the forest in Taylorsville.  Ages 6-13. Free.

Destination Space Station, National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, 1100 Spaatz Street.  10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Commemorate the anniversary of the greatest engineering feat in modern history: the International Space station.  Build your own space station from recycling materials.

America Recycles Day! At Rosewood Arts Centre, 2655 Olson Drive.  11:00 am to 2:00 pm.  This free event features activities at both the Habitat Environmental Center and Rosewood Arts Centre where you can learn to create your own sustainable artwork from recycled materials.

Story time at Barnes and Noble, 2619 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd.  11:00 am.

Nature Sleeps at Germantown MetroPark.  1:00 to 2:30 pm.  Learn all about hibernation and which animals hibernate and which do not.  All ages. Free.

Lego Challenge at Wilmington-Stroop Library, 3980 Wilmington Pike.  1:00 pm.

VFW Holiday Bazaar and Food Drive at VFW, 1237 E. Main Street, Springfield.  1:00 to 6:00 pm.  This free event features shopping from small businesses, local vendors and home crafters.  There will be a bake sale, kids activities and a door prize raffle.  Also you can get free photos with Santa.

Just Sunday

Dayton Philharmonic Youth Strings Concert, Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3939 Stonebridge Rd, Kettering.  3:00 pm.  This is a free event.

Fiddler on the Roof, Jr at Spring Valley Academy, Centerville.  7:00 pm.  See an unforgettable musical about Teyve the milkman doing all he can to protect his daughters from a changing world.  $5 general admission, $10 reserved, $25 front row.  Tickets available at the door or call school office at 937-433-
